Open Educational Resource for the teaching of the present simple in English: a proposal that integrates pedagogical and technological components in its development

Abstract

This article shows the construction of an Open Educational Resource for teaching the structure of the first person of the present simple affirmative in English for students of early school grades seeking to integrate pedagogical elements during technological development. Experimental research work was carried out with a methodology under development based on the phases of the software life cycle. The resulting resource was applied to 15 students and 5 teachers from a private school in the State of Mexico. The results obtained were divided into two types: 1) quantitative, measured by the System Usability Scale, which yielded a level of usability of 96.5 on the side of teachers and 90.3 on the part of children, as well as scores between 8 and 10 in the subject studied, and 2) qualitative, which gathered the users' views on the system. Thus, we identified some positive effects of incorporating didactic aspects in software development during the teaching-learning process were identified.
